It was a little red horse that brought Bob and Jan together in 1990. Jan’s horse, Red Sugaba, escaped from her pasture and ran across a large farm field to a neighboring horse farm. Red was introduced to some new horse buddies and Jan was introduced to the neighbors brother, Bob. Bob and Jan were married in December 1991 and Bethany was born in March 1995. Their first home was a beat-up double-wide trailer parked on 10 acres of wet lands. The home was renovated and the land worked. It currently supports a happy family, a cozy horse farm, and a small hay field. With the profits made on that investment, Bob and Jan purchased another fixer-upper in the heart of the Waterloo Recreation area. The house had been used for rental income, and nothing had been done to the property in over 20 years. Again the house was renovated and the land worked. In 2005 their dream became reality when they officially opened the Equine Charm School, a safe, comfortable, and fun place to visit and learn the art of equine communication. With Jan’s background in animal handling and teaching experience and Bob’s hard work ethics, this team has a lot to offer the visiting public.
